BURLESON –State Rep. Rob Orr (R-Burleson) has been named a “Friend of the Taxpayer” by Americans for Prosperity – Texas.Following each Legislative Session, Americans for Prosperity – Texas, a group of over 30,000 members dedicated to strengthening constitutional government spending limits and giving taxpayers greater control over its government, reviews the votes taken by each member of the Texas Legislature and rates them on whetherthey were a protector of the taxpayer or if they were a tax spender.“I am pleased to be considered a Friend of the Taxpayer,” said Rep. Orr.
“It is important that during these tough economic times we do what we can to give relief to the taxpayers and make sure we do not increase their burdens.”Rep. Orr was recently appointed to a Select Committee on Government Efficiency and Accountability by Speaker of the House of Representatives Joe Straus (R-San Antonio).
The committee will review and make recommendations for eliminating inefficiencies in state government, look for best practices in purchasing state goods and services and review the advantages and disadvantages of privatization.Rep. Rob Orr is serving his third term in the Texas House of Representatives where he serves on the Business and Industry, Land and Resource Management and Local and Consent Calendars Committees.
He is also serving his second term on the House Research Organization. Rep. Orr is an active member of the Republican Caucus Policy Committee and the Texas Conservative Coalition.
